Sweet Charity is a 1966 musical comedy with a book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman, and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, heavily featuring the style of director and choreographer Bob Fosse. Based on Federico Fellini’s 1957 film Nights of Cabiria, it follows the tumultuous romantic life of Charity Hope Valentine a hopelessly romantic, optimistic, and naive woman looking for true love in the big city, despite her unfortunate tendency to fall for the wrong men.
